A PAIR OF UNIVERSES
OBJECT
Image of Messier M81 and M82 galaxies. Both 11 million light years away.
The face-on M81 galaxy seems to be a quiet body with the common slow rotation. M82 is an edge-on galaxy suffering a cataclysm inside and ejecting fiercery matter to the space.
This image has been shortlisted in the Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2019 Competition organized by the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
