Bubble Nebula
OBJECT
This object is one of the more visited by amateurs. The dark nebula was first imaged at Harvard College Observatory in 1888 using chemical photographic plates and today is a popular target between digital astrophotographers. The complex of iluminated clouds, dark areas and streams of gas leaving the nebula pushed by strong magnetic forces is one of the most impressive photographic fields of the sky.
