Leo  Dwarf  Galaxy

OBJECT

This lovely galaxy is located only 20 arc-minutes from the bright α-Leo (Regulus) whose brightness and flares are clearly visible on the image. It is the Dwarf Galaxy Leo I discovered in 1950

This is not a very common target among amateur astrophotographers. It requires severe image processing for extracting it from the background illuminated by the huge Regulus.
